Printmaker

Nate Crosser

Nate Crosser is a mixed media artist and conceptual printmaker based in Kansas City. Crosser combines traditional art techniques like woodblock printing and ink wash painting with a modular production process from miniature blocks. He calls this “composable design,” where unique combinations of recurring symbols can spontaneously ferment, such as in jazz music, into something new. The artist views the carving and printing processes as an experimental mediation and physical embodiment of memory. His visual style is inspired by Zen, Bauhaus, and folk-art aesthetics. Crosser believes that handmade art should be accessible, imperfect, and functionally evocative for both patron and artist. In Autumn of 2025, Crosser completed an art residency at the Mokuhanga Innovation Lab, where he practiced traditional Japanese woodblock printmaking and papermaking over a month in Echizen, Japan.
