Janet Kuemmerlein

Janet Kuemmerlein is a pioneer in the contemporary fiber art movement.  She was born in Detroit, Michigan.  Janet studied painting at the College of Creative Studies in Detroit and sculpture/metalsmithing at Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Exhibitions of Janet’s work led to numerous commissions and awards, both nationally and internationally, as well as purchases by collectors.  Her work has been placed in the Smithsonian Museum of Fine Art, Washington, D.C., Chicago Institute of Art, Rochester Institute of Technology, Georgia Institute of Technology, Daum Museum of Contemporary Art, Museum of Art and Design New York, Hallmark Cards Corporate, and many others.

She received Art in Architecture awards as well as awards from the Guild for Religious Architecture.  The Kansas Arts Commission awarded her the 2009 Master Artist Fellowship.  Her work has been in exhibits in England, France, Germany, and Switzerland.
